The Theatre Royal is an iconic bar and restaurant located in the East side of Edinburgh’s New Town catering to pre and post-theatre attendees, city visitors and the weekend crowd. Having recently been refurbished, to a very high standard, that carefully retains the ornate Victorian era island bar and building facia.

The bar at Theatre Royal has comfy, dark wooden seating and a relaxed atmosphere. Elegant chandeliers, vintage fireplaces and the many posters and pictures from the bygone theatre shows. Real ale, quality beers and an impressive array of malt whiskies are on offer.

 

The rear of the venue houses the dining area where they pub serves a pre-theatre and evening menu of Scottish classic dishes.

JURA SUNSET

Jura’s nutty flavours and oily character makes for a whisky that can be used to make aperitif drinks, which suites the pre-theatre rush at Picardie Place to a tee.

 

Theatre Royal bar make several Jura serves such as whisky sodas but the showstopper is the colourful ‘Jura Sunset’ made with Jura 10 year old and Aperol in a glass chalice, with a basket of salted popcorn to garnish!
